Herb of the Day – Holy Basil
I know that this is probably more exciting to me – so please excuse me because, well I guess I am in my element here and living amongst all others that share a mutual and eccentric love for herbs 
This plant is by far the most complex phytochemically, bioactively, physically, flavorfully, aromatically and energetically. To begin, this herb has a laundry list of actions including but not limited to anti-inflammatory, liver protectant, immune modulating, tonifying, nervous system regulating, anti-microbial, aphrodisiac, and constitutionally balancing and therefore supporting individuals with a wide span of conditions.
It was, by introduction, described as the “Cosmic Reminder” as well as the herb for Devotion and Divine Love. In India, Holy Basil flourishes in the gardens of sacred locations (temples, etc) as well as at the entrances of residences (Brahman homes). It is said to serve as a token to recall spirituality and sacredness. Individuals entering and exiting the place are instructed to eat a leaf from the bush to protect them from evil. This herb is also thought to have restorative properties in that it energetically rejuvenates a being from the fundamental core chakra upward to the highest chakra and when whisked by its branches, it can clean a beings aura of any impurities that may be present as an obstacle for excellence.
It is also referred to as the “Eye of the Heart” in that it has the ability to achieve internal rest and peace while allowing the exterior to attain dynamism. Like it was stated in my previous blog, this is the existence of a perfect alignment of energy in nature between rest and activity.
